I am waiting for my new 343 to be commissioned and contemplating the upgrade of the house battery bank. I want to have a 400 amp hour bank. Can anyone comment on their experiences of upgrading. What size fits in the battery location under the aft berth? I am thinking about 2 4-D's but not sure where to put them.

I wouldn't put batteries...

in any living space, even gel or glass mat. Wet batts gas, and the newer technology supposedly doesn't, but...I put two 8Ds (430 AH) in the bottom of the starboard cockpit locker on my OC400, inside a Taylor battery box. You'd think Beneteau would have a better built-in place, but they didn't/don't, so...

4 x 6V Golf Cart Batteries

When I got my 343, I wanted 2x4D. The commissioning yard tried hard to fit those but I didn't want to give up space in the lazarettes. They came up with a 4x6V golf carts solution for about 400AH. They fit in the space under the aft berth and are fairly cheap. I've been happy with that for the past two years. There are a number of 343 outfitted that way.
