Folks, I remember reading a long time ago about how some had moved their batteries from the starboard cockpit locker to directly behind the engine. I've got two size 31's that I really want to move to the centerline of the boat to alleviate the list to starboard. The list is quite noticeable, mainly due to having a 16KBTU air conditioner below the aft dinette seat, but the batteries located to starboard don't help. Can anyone point me to photos of this in any of the archives? Best Regards, Wesley Fowler Seabrook, Texas

Check out Fred Ficarra's web sight for some ideas. He placed his on the port side to better balance the boat. Others have placed them under the galley sink near the center line.

OEM Location!

This is the location that our batteries were located when the boat was new. We rebuilt the platform because the original one was falling apart. This give you a good idea of the location. It if very tight if you have G31's. Smaller batteries would work better. I actually changed out the port battery (starter) with an Optima and this saved some room.

Thanks!

Steve, Dan, thanks! That's exactly what I needed....that Ficarra fellow had a real project on his hands. I'm probably going to downsize to 27's and go ahead and fit them into the aft end of the engine compartment. Wes

To get the best value out of wet cell 27's, buy the ones that weigh the most (more lead means longer life). I've had good life out of WM Dual Purpose 27's and sold Trojans when in the business. A cheaper Exide DP 27 hasn't lasted as long.
