Battery Location

I need to find a new location for the battery's on a 37' cutter.Right now there under the locker on the starboard side in the cockpit? Any suggestions?

I used under nav station too

I was able to get five 100 amp hour AGMs in there by laying them on their sides. I don't have a picture right now but I'll get one tomorrow and post it tomorrow night. Sitting at the nav station I can't even tell there's anything under there. There's plenty of room for legs and feet. It was totally wasted space. That many batteries weighs quite a bit (I forget how much exactly) but I off-set the weight with an eighty gallon water tank on the starboard side. I calculated what the extra water weighs and it was real close to the weight of my 5 batteries. The water tank is a whole other story, it's still under construction.

one more option

The PO installed the house batteries in the bottom of the cabinet in the "stateroom," or portside quarterberth, depending on your definition.The starter battery is on the original position waaaay down in the starboard locker, which has had a floor added. All three are close to the egine and all electical controls, so no long wiring runs.Frankly, I don't like the solution because of the lost storage space and difficulty reaching the starter battery, but haven't had time to tackle a change.I like the bilge solution best: centers the weight down low.Sanders
