I just purchased a 25.5 Hunter and needed to relocate one battery as it was under the step and in the way. I put them both under the aft setie on the port side just next to the original battery and they fit nicely you will need to modify the batttery box as they will not fit with battery boxes but if you take care of them and do not overcharge them they will not be a problem. Hope this helps "MIC" in calif.

two batteries fit here

My 25.5 has two batteries located in battery boxes in the compartment directly behind the ladder going down into the cabin. Pull out the cover and there is room for two standard batteries and boxes, this is the perfect location as far as I can tell since it is centrally located near the switch panels etc.

My 1985 25.5 has an inboard diesel. That elimanates the spot under the companionway. One of my batteries is under the aft setee of the dinet and the other is in the starboard cockpit locker. This setup works great for me.

I moved the location of the battery that was under the aft setee and put it in the starboard cockpit locker. In the back with a battery tray. This battery will run every including starting a 9.9 Johnson. I may add a starting battery if so then this battery will move under the companionway ladder in that space....the only thing about that is my head will be right next to it when bunking in the quarter berth....So I might put it in the cockpit locker as well.
