I own a 2001 Hunter 240. The first day of sailing those cheap little plastic cleats Hunter used to tie my battery down broke. The battery tumbled on to the mattress, soaked the mattress with acid, and tumbled back. I lost the mattress and had to use a baking soda solution on the inner hull sump. I also found out the bilge pump is not mounted properly at the lowest point of the hull. I moved the battery above deck and placed it beside the fuel tank, where it probably should have been in the first place. Before you sail a 240 make sure that battery is secure.
