I have decided, since I am STILL experiencing some intermittent engine starting issues, to replace my grounding wires,,
1985 OD 28 -- Universal M-12
I read all the related threads on SBO,,,

My plan is to use 4ga and mount to the forward starboard engine mount bolt-
the current rear bell housing attachment is impossible to access and remove, probably original set up,,

any thoughts, concerns, etc appreciated as always,,,

Cheers,
Coyote

I agree about the bell housing and it could use improvement as a ground.

However, #4 may be smaller than anything else you have since we don't know if you have upgraded your charging (alternator) system which could use heavier wire. Only you know that.

"...all related threads..." is also kinda unclear. Maine Sail has commented on this many times. Have you done a search using his name?

Starting intermittent could also be from three other things: 1) the stupid fuse and fuseholder between your start button and the starter solenoid - find it an remove it (see Critical Upgrades http://c34.org/bbs/index.php/topic,5078.0.html ); 2) bad slide on connector to the starter solenoid; 3) wiring harness and trailer plug connectors - remove them, see Critical Upgrades.

Those Critical Upgrades related to engines apply as much to your engine as they do to the M25 series that we write about there.

Good luck.
