I recently added a new starting battery with a dedicated "on-off" selector switch. This combo is connected in parallel with the existing 2 deep cycle house batteries (with their existing "1-2-off" selector switch). My question is charging... should I leave the starting battery "on" (connected) during shore power charging? Or is it better to keep it "off" (open circuited) to avoid parallel charging of diffent types of batteries (deep cycle and starting)? I'm sure the alternator can handle charging the starting battery in a very short time once under way, but I am also concerned about leaving the new starting battery disconnected regulary for 1-2 weeks at a time.
