Should a new Xantrex Truecharge 20 Plus Battery charger get "warm" or "hot" while charging two very low Gel batteries. I installed it today and was concerned that it was getting a little too hot for my comfort level. I contacted the company and they said it was normal to get warm. My hot could be their warm.

hot charge

Warren; It's normal for a charger, putting out a lot of current, to get warm. If you can keep your hand on it, it's OK.

Do the math

20 amps * 12 volts = 240 watts. Even if the system is 80% efficient (which it probably isn't), that's 50 watts of escaping heat. So, don't sweat it.
