Mine is 1990 C30 #5900 so we are only a few boats appart. I replaced mine four years ago with a Truecharge 10amp Two bank hard wire system. Mounted it under the chart table on the bulkhead. Drilled a hole through it for cables so it is right next to the batteries and below the panel. Very easy to install and was able to use the wiring set-up from the old system. Took about 3 hours as I recall. Bought mine at West but it is available everywhere. Works great. I leave it plugged in whenever at the dock and always have fully charged batteries.

Battery Chargers

David Regardless of size (capacity), the MOST important feature in a new charger is a smart three stage charger. TrueCharge, or Statpower, now Xantrex seem to be about the only manufacturer who makes these that are worth your investment. This is based on numerous posts on this and other websites. Get 'em from West Marine, BoatUS, Defender, et. al. You should have a catalog of someone's marine material. If not, just go online. Also read the West Marine Advisors on battery charging and batteries to learn more about how to size, install and select a charger.

David, I recently purchased a Statpower 20 Amp multi-phase charger for my S-2 after receiving recommendations from two other sailors who recently installed them in their vessels. They are available from Defender and West Marine. I'm very pleased witht the results.
