Battery Charger Location And Type On A Hunter 33.5

I have a Xantrex True Charge 2 charging a bank of 4 flood type golf batteries. The batteries are located in the aft Port cockpit locker. The charger is also located there on the forward port wall. My questions:
1) Is this the usual locations for both?
2) I have heard there are concerns with a Xantrex True Charge 2 overcharging the batteries. Any one here this?

this is the setup I have, Port location, currently just one battery and a cheapo charger
