Battery bank holdown

Just purchased a 1985 31 foot Hunter and want to add an extra battery bank - from researching the forums there seems to be several places I could mount a bank. My plan is to mount one battery behind the water heater for starting only (there is an indentation that I understand from previous posts was once used for batteries) and a seperate bank of 2 group 27 batteries somewhere else on the port side to supplement what will be one bank presently located over the engine shaft. Plan to use a statpower 20 for the house bank charger and an echo charger for the starting battery. My main question is what have people done to secure the batteries? I get a little nervous drilling holes and have thought about using wood blocks epoxied to the locations I want to mount holdown straps or whatever I need to hold the batteries. Any suggestions appreciated.

Two things

One is to drill the four holes for the strap braces provided for each battery case. Eventually the stress will break one or more strap holes, compromising the rig. The other is to put regular metal bookends on the leeward side of the cases. The key is having good tongues that extend 4-5 inches under the case. These really prevent tipping and shifting, positively ingenious and inexpensive.
