What do you recommend for replacement house batteries for a Hunter 41? Best place to purchase? Tx

What year is the boat?
Hunter has switched out the configurations on the battery arrangement recently. It could either be a 4D or an 8D. I am leaning towards 2 4D batteries. What type of load do you have running off of them. How do you charge them? What do you expect outta them? If you leave your boat at a mooring all summer with either a windmill or solar array to charge them or leave your boat docked plugged into shore power most of the time is a big factor on the requirements that you have for your batteries.

Golf Cart batteries
For our house, we have 4 6V golf cart batteries. Each pair is wired in series and then connected in parallel. Our first set lasted 5 years and were running like new when we chose to replace them. We have a Hunter 40.5

Only other choice really...
is to go with as many AGMs as you can afford. Next to 6 volt flooded, AGMs are about as forgiving as any, relating to charge rates and not "melting down" with too much of a charge. They are smaller, lighter, can be mounted in most any configuration, and will put out more amp hrs. than anything on the market. Are they expensive...yes...are they worth it...yes...if you are going to use the boat?! Check out Cruising World, Feb. '07 issue for a fairly informative article.
