I just realized after tarping my boat that I forgot to take my batteries out. Should I be going in and taking them out, or will the be OK over the winter.

they should not be given the chance to freeze due to discharge and weather, better to takn inside, charge up and check reg during the winter....or buy new next spring.

I'd take them out
I take my house battery out of my boat every fall, and store it down my cellar with a smart charger connected to it for the winter. I know that they're heavy to carry, but it's better to take good care of it and get as much life out of it as I can. They have been known to freeze if they become discharged.

here in the Great Lakes, winter temps always dip to wickedly cold levels. Always, always, always remove the batteries. Keeping batteries stored inside is best, and like the other said, it is good advice to keep them charged throughout winter. Keep an eye on them, that way when the start of the next boating season comes, you will have fresh, fully charged batteries ready to start you off on the a good note!
