Battens?

This is my first year docking the boat. It's also the first year I used a sail cover on the main sail. Should I remove the battens before putting on the sail cover or leave them in place?

Thanks

Naw, the battens usually lay pretty much parallel to the boom when you flake down the sail.

I leave the battens in. It may lay a little flatter if I removed them, and purists may insist on releasing the tension, but it works for me and and covers without issue.

Leave them in. But as you flake the main down on the boom, you may want to shuffle it a bit before tying to make sure that you don't bend and tension a batten with the sail ties.

Just have them lay flat on the boom and if you tie your sail ties so tight that they tension or bend the battens, then you are tieng them too tight......
