Batten loss

Having trouble with the full batten (upper) in our H212 mainsail popping out and going overboard. It is tensioned by a horizontal strap at the leech, secured with Velcro, and there's a vertical loop that should keep the tensioning strap lined up with the batten. . . but the batten pops above (or below?) the strap and works out of its pocket. Anyone know if I'm doing something wrong? . . or if there's a solution? Maybe someone makes a batten tip with ears on it to keep the strap from slipping off?

Well, don't have the pockets that taping would help. Had those on a 505 and they functioned OK without additional prosthetics. We have the leech tape/velcro/retaining strap setup. As someone mentioned, the problem DOES seem to arise when the main flogs (I think). . . but, in gusty weather, it's very difficult to keep the boat on her feet without spilling most of the wind. The H212 doesn't have a traveller. . . is there one available?
