Does anyone know where I can get black end caps for the mainsail battens? These appear to protect the sail from the batten piercing the sail.

West Marine/BoatUS

I've gotten them at either West Marine or Boat/US. Check them out. They come in different sizes. They look too small, but they stretch over the batten end and hold firmly. Drop them in warm water for a few seconds to make them easier to stretch. As an added measure, run a piece of tape along the edge of the cap and the batten to ensure that it will stay on.

Super Glue

After buying the new ends, you should super glue them on to the battens. It can be a pain in the ass trying to get them out of the sail after they have fallen off.

Dip it

What about getting some of the rubber/plastic goop that you dip hand tools in? You could just dip the end of the batten into it a couple of times and viola-end capped batttens
