I did something stupid. The battans on my 1987 Hunter 26.5 are inserted from the luff. I removed my full battans before sending my sail in to be cleaned and did not notice that one end is cut on the bias (slant) and one end is squared off. Logic seems to dictate that the bias-cut end would be put on the leech, but the leech end of the battan pocket is square. Since cleaning, the battans won't slide in as easily as they came out. In fact, two won't fit at all. So, here's the question. Is the bias cut there to allow for easier setting of the battan into the luff pocket end, or should it go to the leech end of the pocket, mimicking the angle of the leech to the battan pocket?
