Hello

Has anyone used any products from the company before?

"EpoxyUSA.com"

I'm in the search for an epoxy paint for a barrier coating. I stumbled across this site during an internet search. They seem to have a lot of information on their web-site.

I've started to remove 25 years worth of bottom paint. Not a job that will be done quickly, all hand scraped then power sanded with an orbital sander.

I've read most ( there's to many to read all of them in this lifetime) of the postings on barrier coats and the removal of the bottom paint.

But I've been looking into other sources for barrier coats so let me know what you think.

As always thanks

Sumner

After a suggestion from someone on here last year I used....

....Sea Hawks Tuff Stuff and....

.... liked the price and the easy of putting it on compared to the steps you have to go through with some others. I can't comment on its performance vs. others.

We had the boat in the water 1 month last fall and 2 this spring in Florida and so far I'm very happy with the total paint package that we used.

The bottom was very clean when we hauled it out the other day with a couple very small barnacles near the stern and no real slime or growth. The dinghy wasn't painted and was in the water the whole time and I had to clean the bottom on it 3 times this spring with lots of growth and slime on it.

We used 2 coats of Cukote Biocide Plus Self-Polishing Bottom Paint......

.... black with one coat of blue over the black so that when it wears through to the black I can put on more blue.

Good luck,

Sum

If you have 25 years of bottom paint on your boat, and no blisters, I wouldn't put a barrier coat on it now. If your boat was blister-prone, you'd know it by now. Yes, scrape off all the old bottom paint, put on a couple of coats of new bottom paint, and go sailing....
