Barrier Coat Recomendations

Hello All

I'm restoring a Rhodes 22' and have the bottom paint removed and as soon as it warms up a bit I'm going to fair the hull. When that is done I will want to put a coat of epoxy barrier coat over the hull. The boat is a 1973 so it seems prudent to just giver her a new "skin". I've done this once before on a '71 Coronado 23 and at the time I found a nice 2-part product that was free of volatile organic vapors. Nice stuff! It was self leveling and made a nice, hard, smooth surface when cured. Unfortunately, I don't remember where I got it. And at the time I was not a member of this forum...

So I figured I'd ask if any of you all have a product that you have used and would recommend. :dance:

I made my own "Peel Away" (very inexpensively) using a recipe that Ross recommended. Do a search of this forum for "homemade peel away" and it should pop up. I gave the details of how to mix the peel away etc. in that thread. For less than $10 you can mix up your own and if you have a pressure washer, you can have the hull cleaned off in less than 3 hours time (including making the mix).

Did the bottom on our boat last spring with Interprotect 2000E. Two-part epoxy, self leveling and it rolled on nicely. So far, so good.

I bought Pettit Protect epoxy I plan to use in the spring with matching fairing ,and Anti-fouling. All the same brand; As last years stuff blew off with Fall power-wash!
This time I want it to last so no mixing!..Dale

I have used 2000E and I have used coal tar epoxy. I liked the coal tar stuff better because it is a lot less brittle and seems to be more forgiving to dings and bending.
