I saw a recent article about a product called "Foul Away" that reports to prevent growth and fouling on marine outdrive units. The Clean Seas company in Jacksonville, FL, makes two products, an outdrive seasonal clear coating that lasts three months ($18/qt) and an outdrive clear coat for a year's protection ($45/qt). They claim that you can even apply these products under water. In the past, I had good success in preventing fouling on my prop and shaft using the clear, tin-based outdrive sprays. Since the EPA has banned these coating I am looking for something else that is easy to use. I also had good results using two barrier coats under my regular copper bottom paint on the prop and shaft but all of these coating had a limited life on the prop. Has anyone else had any experience with these "Foul Away" products?
