I was looking at an email from Annapolis Bay Charters and thinking about seeing the Bay from the inside out for 4-5 days. Can anyone recommend a cruising guide for the Chesapeake?

Thanks. Bob.

Don't mean to be discouraging, but you won't hardly begin to 'see the Chesapeake' in 4-5 days .......... Might better look for suggestions from Bay sailors. You may get to 2 or 3 ports, and that assumes fully cooperative weather.

I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
I spent 12 days out in the bay a few years ago and I didn't even see a tenth of what I would like to see. I have been cruising out into the bay for the last 10 years and I grew up sailing and racing in the area. There are tons of more places to go that I haven't been yet.

St. Michaels, Annapolis, Solomons Island, Tangier Island, Smith Island, Onancock, and Hampton are just a few of the really amazing places to go.

Cruising the Chesapeake, A gunkholers guide by Bill Shelenbecker is also an excelent book. Lots of history, best anchorages, approches, things to do and see......

Bob,

We charters with Annapolis Bay Charters in September for 5 days.
Chartered a Jenneau 43DS.

We did:
Annapolis to Deale to Solomons Island to Oxford to Annapolis.

Sure we didn't see it all, but you got to start somewhere!
Good sailing, nice part of the world - we'll be going again.

sam :)

Bob, as others have pointed out, the Bay is so big and time is so finite. With only a few days, out of Annapolis, consider St. Michaels, Rock Hall, even Baltimore. They're all great destinations and achievable with memories with less than a week's time available.
