I am replacing all my standing rigging this season, and I got to thinking a brand new set of 6 wires and 12 fittings that are completely untested and failure of the forestay or backstay would be disastrous. Until the rigging has been thru a shakedown, I'm a bit concerned. Does anyone have a solution/backup in case of a failure until the new rigging has proven itself? Thanks in Advance

How are you going to test it other than putting it on the boat and sailing with it?

If you are replacing the old stuff, there is probably more of a chance that it is going to fail (that is why you are replacing it I must presume).

You only concern should be if you did NOT have a company make the stuff that was using the proper equipment.

Sail on.
A good belt of rum, weigh anchor and let 'er rip! She will do just fine.
