Maine Sail, you mentioned the Smart gauge in another thread and I didn't want to hijack. I recently saw an ad for this and when I checked the spec sheet apparently there is no shunt and it looks like their software calculates Peukert?? Normally I wouldn't have given this much thought, but given it is from Balmer, it peaked my interest. Although I already have a Victron, always curious about new products. You seemed to indicate that you were impressed with the monitor in another thread and would love to hear more of your take on this thing....

I will be doing a full write up soon. For now I think it is a great addition to a BM. The Smart Gauge does not have to calculate for Peukert because it is measuring voltage and other parameters 1500+ times per second to develop trends and learn the battery. As the battery ages it tracks that as well which you as a human need to do with a battery monitor.

These are bare bones devices Volts and capacity displayed as C100, C77, C50 etc... It takes a few cycles to learn the bank and can become slightly tricked when charging but when you begin to discharge again it quickly finds SOC...
