I have a Catalina 27 (1974) sloop with an outboard. The transom is cracked where the motor mount sits. Rather than re-apply fiberglass and go through all that junk, I was thinking about putting a stainless steel bracket across the entire back to re-inforce the transom. Is that an issue? Can it be done that way? Will I encounter any problems if I proceed in that manner?
Second question: I have a Schaefer 1100 roller furler to install on my forestay. My wire rope is 3/16" diameter. Will that suffice or will I have to go to 1/4"?
Thanks for your help.
