Hello freinds. about a month ago I filled my fresh water tanks. about a week later I was talking with my liveaboard nighbor. and he ask me if I had heard any strange sounds from the water thru the boat. like a slurping sound like when your water hose hits the water.I said that I thought I had heard somthing to but I dont stay on board so I did not pay any attention to it.we walk around the dock but did not hear anything. so he went to the dock master and asked about any possible water leaks. well a week later there was a water leak. at the water supply at the dock and it was fixed but a boil water sign was posted. this is now my problem I went to the boat about two weeks later and when I used the water it smelled like rotten eggs. the boat is docked in the river. so I think river water got in my tanks. I drained the tanks but not sure what would be the best way to clean the tanks on board and get it freash again any advise would be helpfull. thanks Friends

The tanks on my H 37C have fairly large access ports on the top where the level gauges were installed. By removing them you can probably set up to spray down the "roof" and sides of the tanks with the above mentioned cocktail and also mop up the bottom. The baffles don't go all the way to the top and bottom.

This would give you the chance to generally clean in there - not a bad thing. It is about time I repeated the process come to think of it.

Good luck

Just cleaning out the won't recover the system...most of the problem is in the plumbing. Follow the instructions that Stu posted--which I didn't invent, just shared. You can find the same instructions--which have been the accepted cure for contaminated systems for at least 25 years--on 90% of the RV maintenance sites.
