Bad day

I am not sure how this happened but this guy had a bad day in Portland yesterday. I bet his motor was very ineffective in 15-20kt winds hung off the transom instead of on the adjustable motor bracket.

Where was that picture taken? I'm surprised I can't recognize it.

Saw you sailing up the harbor last night while I was motoring back down from dropping my son off at the South Portland town dock. It was a great day to be on the water.

I see the anchor line out and he appears to be getting ready to clean the bottom. Maybe he was anchored and the tide went out ?

I missed that anchor line. It is a popular anchoring spot and it looks like he may have rowed up with his dinghy. I cannot imagine running aground here and not getting off with the steepness of that shore.

Roger, you have gone by here many times and can even see this from your mooring. A little different perspective though. This is the shoal on the north side of fort Gorges. The beach in the upper left with the kayaks is part of the island with the fort. The fort would be just to the right of the photo. The houses are on Little Diamond.


The wind was from the NNW and was probably bashing that boat against the rocks the whole time the tide was dropping and rising. Low was at 14:45 and this photo was shot around 16:00

We were just coming back from the Gosslings. We had a nice evening there and then yesterday was beautiful. Lots of folks on the beach chatting with kids and dogs swimming. It actually felt like summer for the first time this year. Sailed back down the east side of Chebeague and came in through Chandlers and then 1 tack down into the harbor entrance. The harbor was just a mess of idiots on the water. We heard many calls on 16 throughout the day.
