Hi I have just recently purchased a 240 and have not yet had a chance to sail it. It will be my first boat that doesnt have the mast supported by a backstay. Does this cause problems? and if so do any other owners have any tips - hints or suggestions. Thanks Chris

Not really

The main problem you will have is that with the spreaders swept back, you can't let the mainsail out as far when running with the wind. If you don't race (and I don't) it probably won't bother you at all. For us tall folk, its nice to eliminate at least one obstacle in the cockpit. You'll have a great time. Enjoy your boat.

Do swept-back spreaders make B

Not that it matters, but I'm curious. Do swept-back spreaders alone make a B

I don't think so

Lots of boats have swept-back spreaders but the rig is definitely not B&R. I think it's the diagonals that make the difference. Peter
