backstay tensioner system

Vegatarians,

I have twin backstays...have any of you have any experience setting up
an adjustable backstay tensioning system???

Two seperate backstays or the standard 'split' backstay system? If the former, I've no idea; for the latter, we have great success and no-cost system: -

loosely tie a 6mm line twice around the backstays in a figure of eight, about 6 inches (15cm) below the split; when heading to windward in a stiff breeze, slide it downwards a further 6 inches, the tension increases and friction keeps the whole thing in place.

What more do you need it to do?
