Has anyone out there replaced the bridle backstay on a c27 with a simple straight backstay? I would like to simplify that piece of rigging. Any downside? Thanks.
The main advantage of the split backstay is ease of adjustability. I assume yours is set up to be adjusted by an arrangement of two blocks with the sheaves on the outside of the inverted "V". Adjusting a single backstay is more complex. I don't see going to a single backstay as an advantage.
