Back stay

I need to change the back say on a Hunter 30.5 from 1989. I have never seen this kind of top rod at the upper end of the stay that connects to the top of the mast. It has a straight rod that fits in to a cup like thing. Does any one know if this is original and where to find this end rod with a cup?Is there a more conventional way to connect to the mast or is it recommended to keep this set up?Sven

Standard Backstay cable

This is a standard cable connection that fits into a mating cup at the back of the masthead crane. If you are replacing this cable, I would suggest that you buy the ball fitting that accepts line instead and put a spectra backstay on in place of the steel one. You will find it is much lighter and stronger. Did mine years ago.
