Whoever said money can't buy happiness apparently forgot that you can buy things with money - like this:

That is my nearly new (5hrs) tohatsu sailpro, 25 inch xl shaft. Can't wait to try it out.

I suspect whoever said that was ill of health. Good health my friend is what will bring you the most happiness in life. It is also something money will never buy. Id trade all the money in the world to be healthy again.

Enjoy the like new engine and good health to you.

A nice motor for 1,000 (maybe you got a better deal than asking). The four strokes that I have heard are very quiet and 6 HP is the perfect size for your boat. With your fixed motor bracket will you be able to pull the lower unit all the way out of the water when sailing? I guess you gave up on the old 7.5? We had cooling and fuel problems with our 8 HP Mariner when in Ft Myers, FL a few weeks ago. It was down for days while I was trying to locate parts and repaired it. It sure took a bite out of our only 10 days of being there.

the 7.5 will remain and i will work on as i can, that is, pull the powerhead and see what the problem really is. If I can fix it it will be a backup, if not I'll donate it for parts.

I tilted the motor up and eyed it, I think it will just skim the surface of the water, well see - it is a very long shaft.

It came with a standard prop so the seller knocked off the price of a 6 pitch prop from the asking price - my idea and he went along with it - nice guy.

If the fixed mount is an issue I can eventually replace it with a pivot mount.

One thing I noticed is that it's not possible for the prop to hit the rudder at any angle - that's nice.

...and yes, money can't buy health, I was being a bit facetious.

Those Tohatsu's are nice motors. I had a 4hp and it ran great. The SailPro is nicely done for a sailboat. Enjoy.

Sounds like you made a great deal! Saved some good $$$.
I have the 6" pitch on mine and starting, stopping and maneuvering is fantastic over the 8 and at speed the motor is louder because of running at higher rpms.
Good to hear you're back in action.
