I'm back on the boat, at least for a night. After PT and a fairly full day of running around doing normal things, my lower back feels pretty good. You know what they say about house guests and fish so it's a good time to see how the motion of the boat and getting in and out of the V berth makes me feel.

Barbara arrives from Maine tomorrow for the rest of the week and the weekend. We'll be staying in a motel or B&B so that I'll have a better place to do exercises. The logistics will be simpler and it will be nicer for her.

It is very nice to be back on the boat but a bit strange. It feels and looks like home but I have completely lost the familiarity with the motion. It seems so odd to have the hull move slightly under my feet as I walk around and the occasional wake comes in. The boat is like a summer cottage half way through the first afternoon. I can't wait to get it organized, iced up, and provisioned again.

No plan yet for what comes next week. I'm going to talk to the PT's to get a better idea how long they think this will take and whether returning to very easy life aboard is feasible.

Glad to hear you're starting to feel better and may be able to resume cruising soon! Let me know if you need a set of hands from the Annapolis area up to LIS.

way to go

Glad to hear the excitement in your voice! I hope the back continues its mend. Just do get so giddy you end up overdoing it and retarding your progress. Welcome back aboard Roger.

Good to hear. You sound like you are making progress. Take it slowly though big guy.

At least now you are more attuned to what, how and when you exacerbate your back. Listen to your body tell you what it is up for.

Enjoy the company.

Kelty double wide basecamp mat from Amazon- I too suffer with a back issue and sleeping in the V berth was not the thing to do until I ordered the above from Amazon. It is a 3-4 inch mattress and it can be inflated to an amazing rigidity. It is just perfect in the support arena and I also sleep quite well. It covers the entire V berth and a bit more so size is good too. Highly recommend it. Be well and take it slow.
