We left All American at about 9:30 am and low tide was at 12:00 and thinking I could make out of the locks sooner than later did not happen as I though and as soon as we left the locks hit bottom and got stuck, with a few power boats waiting behindd us and thinking they be real mad that I was blocking the locks got lucky by hughing the left side as we headed out the narrow channel and as we bumped the bottom all the way out to deeper water it was a very happy moment when the depth finder said over 5' and we were able to sail into Charlotte Harbor and onto Burnt Store Marina.
Boy did I sweat when I was thinking I was stuck and blocking the locks and be there until later that afternoon at high tide.
So when you have 5' draft and they say high tide they mean high tide, plans got changed when the day before it rained and hanging my boat in the boat lift so I could paint the bottom of the keel got delayed and that's why we had to leave later that morning rather than early 4 hours before low tide.
Thank goodness we made it into the Harbor.
I gave the keel about 4 coats so hope some is still on
Nick
