Solent Stay
Consider a detachable solent stay. The solent stay attaches high up on the mast and comes down to the deck not so far aft of the forestay. We have one on Blue Note. Since it is almost at the mast head, no running backstays needed. We can hank on our storm jib or heavy weather jib. It is close enough to the forestay that it makes taking difficult if the solent stay is in place with the roller furling genoa unrolled.
It is not as convenient as a true cutter rig, but cutters can be hard to tack the forward jib too. You need to have a high cut jib.
