Check through the threads on this site, there are one or more that address this in detail. Also look at the Z-Spar site for help. I have 99 381 (my 2nd year).
Sounds like something may be stuck but I am not an expert.
Couple of quick things to check.
1. Lube the bearings on the furling mechanism (lots of lube).
2. Check the fuling line to make sure it is not old and stiff. Should not affect unfurling but a stiff line might cause the furling mechanism to bind when unfuling
3. Try rotating the furling mechanis by hand while some pulls gently on the unfurling line
4. When unfurling make sure all lines are untensioned, (Mainsheet, vang, topping lift). Tip from spar manual, and local Neil Pryde rep who worked on my sails last winter.
5. Same for furling head up keeping just enough pressure on the sail to keep it from flogging. One tack works better than the other (I think on a starboard tack it is more of a straight shot around the foil.
6. I sent my furling mechanism to Z-Spar for an overhaul this winter (new bearings and line) and had a drastic improvement in ease of furling and unfurling. The first time I used it this year, I planted my feet like usual and it came out so easy I almost fell on my aft side.
Good luck and congrats on the new boat.
Please post back your (hopefully successful) results....we're all learning
