Looking to tune the rig on our 376 and was wondering if anyone has the correct numbers for using the tunning tool. Would appreciate any info available.Phil Kelly/Orion
THERE ARE 2 BASIC METHODS FOR TUNUNG THE RIG ON THE 376, AND THAT DEPENDS ON THE FORESTAY.....IF THE BOAT HAS A FURLING GENOA/JIB OF IF IT HAS NOT!!!!THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT BECAUSE THE STATIC TENSION AND LENGTH OF THE FORESTAY WITH A FURLING GENOA IS DIFFERENT THAN THE STATIC TENSION OF A FORESTAY WITHOUT A FURLING GENOA.THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE TUNING EXERCISE IS THE "PRE-BEND" ON THE MAST. WITHOUT A PROPER PRE-BEND THE MAST (AND MAIN-SAIL PARTICULARLY) WILL NOT PERFORM CORRECTLY....REMEMBER THAT THE 376 OBTAINS UP TO 85% OF HER POWER FROM THE MAINSAIL.
Thanks for your reply. Had mast tuned today. Our 376 has a Profurl system and had not done much for the 4 years we have owned it except loosen to store in winter and re-tighten in the spring. But we noticed the forestay was not very tight and the "tunner" today said that was due to some stretch that occured over the 4 years of use. We only had to tighten the outer stay and one of the mid diamind shrouds and all was right with the world. Phil Kelly
Phil:I read your post on tuning the your rig, and was wondering, if you don't mind sharing, what the rigger/tuner charged to work his magic on your boat.I just bought a 376 (take delivery June 25) and will need to go through the tuning processThanks......... Jeff Bacon
