Well, I assume he meant an asymmetric spinnaker, but let's wait for the OP to clarify and ask something specific...

There would be some advantage to A sail if there wasn't one previously.
even it it were an A cut asym

I wasn't sure if there was some new sail model 'A', like a Code 0, that was new to me. Now that you've clued me in, I can see that you're all probably right. I feel smarter already. :)

Maybe this is an example of what you're looking for. From 4:35 to 15:25 in this video from two weeks ago, shows setting, trimming and take down of a Code 3 A-sail using a sock and about 3 feet of bow sprit on a B & R rigged Hunter 340. Most of it is shot from a great angle at the end of the boom.

Almost all the race videos I post show setting, trimming, or dousing our Code 3 (yellow, white, and blue) or our Doyle UPS (red, white, and blue), which isn't quite a code 0, not sure what it really is.
