In a recent 60 mile Gulf of Mexico race in Texas, my Hunter 460 performed as well as any boat in our class and out pointed most considerably. I had concerns that the B&R rig would not go to weather. To the contrary, in winds of 17 to 24 and 3 to 4 foot seas, the 460 was not out performed in her class. With proper main sheet tension and use of the traveler the 460 performed. We finished first in our class and fourth in fleet. After talks with the other racers, the main difference we had was that we were more comfortable than they were. Hunters are not race boats, but they seem to win many races along the Texas coast. The 460 continues to impress this owner. Don Guggenheim S/V OZ

Congratulations. I have not officially raced our 460 yet, but have occasionally noticed that with proper trim she will compete with most boats out there. I think the key (as with any sailing vessel, I suppose) is proper trim. I am still (after a partial season) developing the "proper trim". It would be useful to me and possibly to other owners to have a discussion regarding what works and what doesn't. For example, where is the boom and traveller when close-hauled in 15kn. to get max VMG?? It is my intention to document some results this year and I would appreciate any results which others could offer. So let's keep in touch, Thanks, Richard Owen, Mikayla
