Head Mistress

You should try posting this over in the Head Mistress Forum. I don't know if Peggie likes the moniker but in these here parts she's known as The Princess of Poop! Seriously, though, it sounds like you'll probably have to replace your hoses. But ask Peggie. LaDonna

B.O. Holding tank

How old is your tank and hoses??! My was 20 year old and I used to have the same problem, but I replaced the whole system, including the head. Ronco Plastics have 50% discount for Catalina owners (tank B-123 17 gals. for C-30) Good luck!

Last year I replaced our head and the hose going to a bladder tank. This past fall I pulled the bladder tank out and replaced it with a new holding tank. This winter I still had an odor. I finally got around to replacing the suction hose for the pump out and the odor is now gone. How one hose can hold so much of an odor is beyond me. REPLACE, REPLACE, REPLACE.

Check Vent

Check your vent hose. It's routed to one of the stanchions that has a vent hole in its base. Make sure that the hose and stanchion vents aren't plugged and that the hose runs uphill all the way, with no sags or loops. Also, make sure there are no leaks. You're going to get a certain amount of oder permeating through the hoses in the system. The only solution is to replace them. The better the hose, the higher the cost. You'll find quite a bit on this in the archives.
