Does anyone here have the B&G WR10 remote? Looking for opinions, reviews.

Thanks,

Thanks Dave. Where did you instal the BT base station? Is it tough to change the battery in the remote?

Answering some of my own questions: I found the quick-start guide on B&G's site, no manual that I can see. So I see how batteries are changed.

Is the WR10 always the active controller for the AP on the network? How is that managed?

Here's another concern. I use BT every day for my phone, my Macbook, my headset, and my BT speakers. At times, who's connected to what can be frustrating, even infuriating, as one device takes over another in a connection you didn't intend.

Can it happen that the WR10 remote will connect to my Fusion stereo with Bluetooth (MS-RA205)? Or my phone, or Macbook, instead of the BT-1?

Also, is the BT-1 a generic BT gateway for the NMEA2000 network, meaning, will it allow other BT enabled devices to access the network besides the WR10 remote?

Thanks.

Never had an issue with other devices that I am aware of.

No

You are a man of few words, Dave, but I thank you for your answers.

So, what do you do if you're on deck and your WR10 is not the active controller? How do you make it so?

The remote has to be paired when the N2K network is started. The BT receiver is connected to the backbone. When the network is powered up, it searches for the fob. There is button press sequence to make the fob discoverable and to connect it.

@dlochner what kind of battery life do you get with the WR10? I’ve been on the fence about getting one, and I saw Patrick Laine’s last video where he was talking about the Raymarine equivalent and it going through batteries every few days.
