B&G Touch Networking

I have a new B&G Zeus Touch that I have connected to a Raymarine ng network via its NEMA 2000 connection. The B&G has the sail steer program that of course needs wind data. Unfortunately the B&G does not pick up any wind messages on the network. It does pick up other data such as depth, heading, and rudder position so I think the network connection is fine. I have tried several times to find the source for the wind data but I cannot find a way to search for the wind data in the NEMA setup. The only option I have been able to run is the automatic source search that occasionally pics up a device that is either labeled as invalid or off. I suspect that the wind transducer is not generating a true NEMA 2000 message and am trying to confirm that with Raymarine. In the mean time, has anyone successfully connected the B&G to read the wind data?

What is your raymarine wind instrumentation? Can you see true and apparent wind data on any raymarine gear besides the dedicated wind instrument?

It is a Wind Vane transducer and both the true and apparent wind are displayed on the Raymarine i70 units I have. I have not determined how the transducer is connected yet, via an ST-70 pod or the iTC-5 interface, as Hunter did not provide any documentation on the network (inquiry to Hunter support pending). I have not been able to find an iTC-5 in any accessible location. The fact that I can see other messages that would go through an iTC-5 leads be to suspect the interface is an ST-70.

Hey,

Where is the depth info coming from? I'm surprised that you can see the depth info but not the wind info.

My boat came with Raymarine ST60 depth, speed, and wind instruments, and a Garmin plotter. None were networked. Last year I installed a Raymarine EVO Autopilot. I wanted everything networked, so I installed the ITC5 for the ray gear, and a converter cable for the garmin to Seatalk NG. After working out some simple bugs it all works great. On the plotter I can see wind information, including true and apparent. The AP can steer to a heading, wind angle, or waypoint from the plotter. The key for me was the ITC5 to convert from Seatalk I to Seatalk NG (NMEA2000).

Once you get it all working please let me know how the SailSteer stuff works. I would love to get that on my boat if it's half as good as it sounds.

Good luck,
Barry
