Does anyone know what would cause the "Needs commissioning" alarm to go off on our NAC-3 autopilot from B&G with a Zeus 3 chartplotter? Also, does anyone know if there's a way to commission the autopilot in really rough water?

Have you updated the software on either the Zeus or NAC? That happened to me when my NAC-2 s/w was updated.

The Zeus 3 software was updated under instruction from tech support to fix a problem where the touch screen wouldn't touch screen, but the NAC-3 was not updated. Just tried rudder test and failed. Maybe due to rough water?

I suspect the software upgrade caused the AP to need re-calibrating.

The computer will need clean data, if the water is rough the data may not be clean. The sea state may prevent the rudder from moving smoothly through its range.

Can you find a quiet spot to finish the calibration?
