Cleaning old diesel

Like everyone else, we try to motor as little as possible--i.e. when needed. It's almost always necessary to motor in and out of the slip with average 15-20 knot winds and tight turns. That said, we had the same diesel 2 years after the last fill up and just recently had the last 10 gallons cleaned. In a nearly five year old boat, the engine is still brand new with 100 hours total after sailing most weekends on the Texas coast for the last three years.

too much!

Mostly when leaving/coming back to dock and sometimes when cruising and there's less than 3 kts of boatspeed.
