After significant research and several querries on this forum, I decided to order an Autoprop for my Hunter 340. Earlier today I had my first chance to put it through it's paces. Performance was as advertised with the exception of not being able to reach hull speed ( a fair disappointment). I was able to motor smoothly at lower rpms. However, when engaging the transmission in forward and to a lesser extent in reverse, there is a significant audible noise and vibration as the prop blades shift. I have some serious concern about possible damage to the drive train, strut and bearing. I would like to think that this is not a problem. I am not looking forward to finding a replacement and hauling my boat again. Autoprop reports that the noise has been commonly reported but stopped short of giving a "no problem" guarantee.Any help with this issue would be very much appreciated.Johnnie EngesserHunter 340Grace
