My understanding is that their GoFree WiFi system allows for wireless control of their new autopilot controller - effectively your smartphone, or tablet becomes your wireless controller.

I did. The remote I use is the Madman Marine remote. It wires in simply to Seatalk with three wires, and is easily the fastest marine component I have ever installed. And works right out of the box, no stupid configuring, etc.
I don't know about the Simrad inputs, and this remote might be targeted at the Raymarine, I'm not sure. Email Neil at Madman and he should get right back to you, we communicated several times. It's worth every penny; and I would not trade it for a brand new Ray remote..

Just to close this, the madman remote does not work with simrad and they have no plans to develop that for now...
