Just had the rigger take down my ST50 masthead windvane which is inoperable after the last hurricane two years ago.Anyone have a spare for sale, or the location of a place that will repair it.
Can't help you, but I feel your pain. Raymarine wouldn't repair mine, or sell a new vane, after the windvane pointer broke. They tried to sell me a whole assembly, $350, but a friend of mine, an aircraft mechanic, fabbed up a new fin for the pointer, cleaned and rejuvenated the whole thing, and now it works great.
You around online via google. I have an old Datamarine unit rebuilt by an aftermarket shop I found online. It cost me $50 to have the masthead rebuilt. It works great now.Rob
I had mine repaired at a local marine electronic repair shop. If you don't have success in your area contact Trident Marine Electronics in Norfolk VA 757-216-3333. They rebuilt mine last year for about $125.00.
it was the PO. (I know what you're thinking...YEAH right!), but it really wasn't me. The PO was so focused on staying in the center of the channel that the tricolor light and the wind vane got busted when they hit a low hanging sign or light on the bridge at Ocracoke. It was only a couple inches off, but it shattered the tricolor and bent the wind anenometer (sp?). It was good for me, because that is what prompted them to sell the boat. We are all good friends now and they occasionally sail with us. Trident will treat you right, he's a good guy. I felt like I had a brand new unit when he was done.
