Autohelm ST4000 problems

My Autohelm ST4000 wheel drive autopilot, installed in my 1994 Hunter Legend 37.5, suddenly stopped operating. It does not disengage even when you disconnect the input and even when the autopilot power is off. To use the boat I had to remove the unit from the wheel. With the drive unit off, and the unit on AUTO turning the wheel does not change the display. It keeps displayind the boat heading. What Dc voltages should you read in the 2-pin input cable to the drive unit when you turn the wheel from all the way to starboard to all the way to port? Ask Raymarine at this link

they will probably tell you to upgrade to the ST4000 MK II
