I have an ST 3000 also. It does have a nema output, but I don't think it has an input for wind info. When I get home I will check the manual on it, but don't think it does.

AP3000 Vane Mode
What make/brand is your apparent wind instrument? What is the vintage of the auto pilot, and the wind instrument. Autohelm didn't send wind info on the Sea Talk bus with the early (1992) wind instrument, and you needed a seperate vane from them to talk to the AP.
