I have owned 2 Hunters, a 32 Vision & now a Passage 42. Both vessels did not provide a proper (or even close?) reading for the ocean temperature. This is a nice feature for swimming especially way up here in the north west. The sensor is in the speed paddle wheel thru hull. I replaced it on my last boat and it worked. This boat is only 5 years old!!!!!(1995). Put it in hot water. It reads about 30 colder than actual. Emailed Autohelm (Raytheon) - no response. Thx Chris - cboswell@HGP.com

Kinda the same problem...

and mine is only about 1 year old. When first turned on it is pretty accurate. After unit has been on for several hours the sea water temp increases about 30 degrees more than what the actual temperature is. I know for a fact that here in the northeast this time of the year (or any time of the year for that matter!) that the sea temp is NOT 95 degrees as my sea water temp instrument show me this past weekend. This problem will be rectified soon. I'm going to have the impeller replaced as soon as I come out of the water for some spring maintenance.

Unreliable Temp Reporting

Chris, past the first 5 years, I never had a reliable water temperature read. I now have another Hunter with the same set up. It does not work either. FYI and good luck. In my case, the problem isn't worth chasing. Rick D.

Water Temp.....

Mine too. On a '96-376 had to replace the sensor. Simple replacement, just money......sounds like Autohelm may have a design or quality control problem if so many of us are having these problems....

Inaccurate Water Temp Reading

I, too, have an Autohelm Speed/Log inst. and the temperature reading is always -10 C & +14 F --- I think that's a tad low for the present Ocean temp even in RI waters. I wonder if Autohelm will ever 'belly-up' and rectify these problems?
