Autohelm Question

I have a 2001 Mac 26X which has a Raytheon, Sport Pilot autohelm. I bought the boat in the summer of 2014 and am not sure of the age of the Sport Pilot, but it may be 12 years old or so.
The autohelm is connceted to a fluxgate compass and seems to work fine when I shift the dial to Navigate. However, when I shift the dial back to Standby, the autohelm continues to steer the wheel. Is there a simple solution to this dillema?

Not sure on the model number but I have an old Autohelm wheel pilot and that requires two actions to disengage. First you must press the standby button and second you must change the lever position on the wheel. Is your's a wheel pilot?

Roy, My autohelm is a Raytheon Sport Pilot which I think is of early-2000s vintage. Below is a photo of the Sport Pilot. Billy
